Meet CREW Pittsburgh Member, Ann Sekely, McKim & Creed!

What are your interests and/or hobbies outside of work?  

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.  My husband Bill and I are empty nesters as our daughter, Olivia, is a Senior at The Ohio State University.  I also enjoy reading and walking our dog.

Where is your favorite place to go out in Pittsburgh (Strip District, zoo, cultural district, etc.)?  

We love going to the Strip District and each time we have family in town, spending the day there is an absolute must.

What did you learn from your biggest failure? 

I am stronger than I thought.

What personal values have shaped your career?  

Being honest and sincere.  I love helping others succeed.

What are you hoping to achieve with your CREW membership? 

I’m hoping to grow my professional development and make a difference in our industry.

What is the best professional and/or personal advice you have received and/or given?  

It is none of your business what others think about you.  

How do you achieve balance between work and home life?  

Tell us something people may find surprising about you.  Despite falling up stairs often, I used to be a gymnast.  

Who inspires you and why?  

My mom.  She was diagnosed with cancer in November 2021 and she never faltered in her decision to fight.  She went through 6 weeks of chem and radiation treatment five days a week.  Even at her most challenging time, she stayed positive and found something good each day.

Where have you traveled?  Where do you wish to travel?  

I traveled to Italy several years ago to visit my sister and her family and we are leaving in May for a trip to Munich.  I hope to visit Paris, Ireland and England.

Do you have any pets?  

Yes.  Our dog’s name is Matilda and our cat is Willow.  If my husband would allow more pets…..I would love to have many more!
